Gretsch Renown Maple Fusion Kit Reviews 5

The kit is a Sun Amber colour with 10", 12" 14" toms, 22" x 18" bass drum and a 14" snare. Also added a 16" x 16" floor tom later. The kit looks classy and superb on stage and under lights. I play funk, jazz and rock music and am in my 40th year as a semi pro durmmer. It replaced my previous Gretch Monster kit (8 piece) which I had bought in the 70s.

Bought the shells only in Sydney from Music Workshop (West Ryde) for AUD3200.

This kit is just fantastic. That's why I am writing this. It is so good to play, easy to tune. I've always likeed Gretsch kits, but when I bought it, I am sure I did not expect it to be this good. In fact I am amazed at how many people inlcuding studio engineers who tell me the kit sounds awesome. However, I should add that I tune the kit a little higher than most rockers so that the sound penetrates.

Cant think of anything I dont like about the kit.

All Maple shells 6 ply on the toms, 10ply on the snare and bass drum.

An absolute delight to play for all volumes, tempos and feels. Apart from being a work of art, its an excellent sounding kit that is one of Mr Gretsch's finest and justifies the Gretsch theme... 'that great Gretsch sound'. Highly recommended for serious drummers.
